More ways you can support us
There are plenty of ways you can assist Ruhama in our aim to support women affected by prostitution and sex trafficking. These include:
Many of the women Ruhama work with live in hostels for asylum seekers (direct provision system) and are entitled to just €19.10 per week. This must cover the cost of clothes, footwear, public transport, school expenses, toiletries, phone credit, internet access, etc. With such limited funds, Christmas can be a very difficult and lonely time. Other women are far away from home or estranged from their families, leaving them feeling very isolated at Christmas.
With this in mind, each year we try to bring a little Christmas spirit into the lives of the women we support by giving them a Christmas gift. We approach local businesses, volunteers and supporters to request donations of toiletries, gift sets and practical items such as hats, scarves and gloves. These are small items but they can really make a difference to a woman who is going through a difficult time.
If you or the company you work for would like to donate gifts at Christmas, please contact Meredith on 01 836 0292 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ruhama keep a stock of emergency bags on hand for women who are admitted to hospital, escape from a trafficking situation, are going through the repatriation process or simply require personal items.
These bags typically contain the following:
- Toothbrush & paste
- Slippers or Slipper socks
- Hairbrush or comb
- Hypoallergenic face cream & hand cream
- Other toiletries such as hair bobbins, shower gel, nail brush etc
If you have unopened and unused items you would like to donate for this purpose, please contact Meredith on 01 836 0292 or email email@example.com.
Remember Ruhama in your Will
One of the most valuable ways in which people contribute to the work that Ruhama does, is by leaving a gift in their Will. Making a Will is the best way to ensure that the people you love and the causes you support will benefit in the way that you wanted. Leaving a Will takes care of your family's welfare and can provide an opportunity to leave a lasting gift, or legacy, to Ruhama.
If you don't already have a Will, you simply need to seek advice from a solicitor on how to include Ruhama as a beneficiary. A solicitor will ensure that your Will is legally correct and can offer advice on making your estate more tax efficient.

If you decide to leave a gift or part of your estate to Ruhama, it is most important to have the correct name and address listed. Including our charity number (CHY10733) is also good practice, in case of a possible change of name or address in the future.
