Would you like to Volunteer with Ruhama?
There's no time like the present. Volunteers are an integral part of the Ruhama team.
What areas can I get involved in?
The Outreach Van
Our van operates 4 nights in the 'red light' districts of Dublin offering support, info and referrals for women involved in street prostitution. Our outreach team create a safe, confidential space for women to discuss issues that may be affecting them or simply to relax with a cup of coffee.
- You must have access to a car and a full manual driving license.
- Volunteers should be available 3 nights per month, (one weeknight/one weekend night van shift and an outreach team meeting on the last Wednesday of each month).
- Weekday shifts normally take place between 9-12pm and weekend shifts between 10pm - 3am.
- This usually totals 10 hours p/month and we ask that you are willing to commit for two years.
Education and Development
Our Education and Development Programme helps women develop their skills and interests, whilst building self-esteem and independence. We need:
- English Tutors (ESOL, TEFL, Adult Literacy, etc)
- Third Level Support Tutors
- IT Tutors
- Math Tutors
- Sewing/Arts/Craft facilitators to lead fun, inclusive classes for students at all levels.
Our Education and Development service is 100% woman-centred so we're always open to trying new ideas. If you've a particular skill you feel would complement the work, we'd love to hear from you.
Commitment involved: Availability between office hours Monday-Friday, days and times flexible, ability to commit 2 years to role.
Our counsellors play a very important role in supporting women to deal with past trauma and equip them with the skills and the confidence for a brighter future. This role is open to volunteer counsellors who are fully accredited and supervision support is provided.
Commitment involved: A minimum of two hours p/week during office hours at Ruhama.
Ruhama are always looking for energetic fundraisers or communications enthusiasts to help us continue our work supporting women affected by prostitution. Are you interested in organising an event or perhaps helping us out with an awareness-raising campaign? Apply if that's a 'Yes'.
